Gerry McGarvey

Non - Executive Director

As a trained counsellor with over 30 years’ experience in Personal Development, Gerry has used these skills and other therapeutic interventions as a practitioner with young people with a number of Third Sector agencies. He has also worked with other client groups within the Public Sector including the Scottish Prison Service and a number of Local Authorities.

Gerry has also worked as part of the Learning and Development team for a national children’s charity based in Stirling, and has created, provided and delivered training programmes in organisational development for a number of national and regional voluntary sector organisations.

 

More recently he worked in publishing as an editor, writer, and researcher before being elected to Stirling Council in May 2022.

 

Gerry is Stirling Council’s nomination to the Board of Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, and in February 2025 Councillor McGarvey was appointed as Leader of Stirling Council.
